Plain terms
for a simple service.

The service is operated by Leadout Oy (Y-tunnus 2584445-3), Linnankatu 61, 20100 Turku, Finland. By creating an account or using the gettranscript.io service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to both the API and the no-code dashboard.

gettranscript.io fetches publicly available YouTube transcript data on your behalf and returns it in the format you request. We do not host or reproduce YouTube video content — only text transcripts that YouTube makes available via its own captioning system.

• One credit is deducted per transcript request, regardless of format or video length.
• Credits are non-refundable once used.
• Purchased credits do not expire.
• Free credits granted at signup are non-transferable and have no monetary value. You may only create one free account per person; creating additional accounts to obtain additional free credits is a breach of these terms and may result in suspension without notice.
• We reserve the right to adjust credit pricing for future purchases. Existing purchased credits are unaffected.

You agree not to:

• Use the service to fetch transcripts of videos you do not have the right to process under applicable copyright law.
• Resell or sublicense API access to third parties.
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, billing, or authentication.
• Create multiple accounts, use disposable or alias email addresses, or otherwise attempt to circumvent free-tier limits or anti-fraud measures.
• Use the service in any way that violates YouTube's Terms of Service.
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without notice or refund of unused credits.

Your API key is a secret credential. You are responsible for keeping it secure and for all requests made with it. If you believe your key has been compromised, regenerate it immediately from the dashboard. We are not liable for unauthorised use of your API key.

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. YouTube may change its systems in ways that temporarily or permanently affect our ability to fetch transcripts. We are not liable for service disruptions caused by third-party platform changes, including changes to YouTube's transcript availability or anti-bot measures.

Transcripts are fetched as-is from YouTube's captioning system and are not verified or edited by us. Auto-generated captions may contain errors. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any transcript.

We do not claim ownership of transcript content — that belongs to the respective YouTube content creators. By using the service, you agree that you are responsible for ensuring your use of transcript content complies with applicable copyright law and YouTube's Terms of Service.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Leadout Oy and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service in violation of these terms, applicable law, or third-party rights — including copyright claims related to transcript content you fetch and any breach of YouTube's Terms of Service through your use of the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, gettranscript.io is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for credits in the 30 days preceding the claim.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. For material changes, we will attempt to notify you by email.

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Finland.

The service is not intended for users under 13. By creating an account, you confirm you are at least 13 years old (the Finnish digital age of consent under GDPR Article 8).
